The Salmon River, Idaho (The River of No Return)
The famous "River of no Return" is your backdrop for relaxation and adventure as Destination Wilderness of Idaho and their guides take you into the remote and beautiful Salmon river valley. Over 6,000 feet from the rim this river valley is deeper than the Grand Canyon! The river begins in the Sawtooth Mountains and flows over 400 miles westward into the Snake river which eventually reaches the Pacific Ocean. The Main Salmon runs through the heart of Idaho surrounded by one of the largest designated wilderness areas in America. Wildlife viewing, premier whitewater river rafting, sunshine and relaxing camp sites are abundant.
Their trips utilize many different types of whitewater river craft to row, paddle and drift down the river. Your choice of river chariots consist of oar-rigged rafts, paddle rafts, or inflatable whitewater kayaks. Depending on your level of adventure you may choose to paddle with a team, paddle solo in your own inflatable kayak or sit back and relax, letting your whitewater guide row you down the river in true vacation style. Please note that if you decide to head over to the next state, Washington, that there are new laws being phased in for operating motorized boats in that area. Operators of motor boats are now required to take a boating safety course and pass an exam to get a washington boat license.
