Salmon River Guides

fun, safe professional guides make your trip

River Time Guide Service is blessed to have a staff that well-traveled adventure guests from around the world have labeled "the best guides they have ever had". Part of this sentiment may stem from each guide's amazing ability to captain rafts down wild rivers. Other feelings may come from the gourmet meals that they creatively create. But our guess, and one that is supported by comments like the one above from the thousands of guests with whom these guides have shared wilderness trips, is their absolute kindness and consideration is what sets them apart. We invite you to meet a few here and come see for yourself.

  TERRY HUGHES

Terry Hughes

Terry Hughes, the owner of and a lead guide for River Time Guide Service, is the hardest working man this side of the Mississippi river. Terry's love of the outdoors and Salmon River and the desire to share this with his guests is fueled by an unseen force that propels him into a happy hard worker (rumor has it that two gallons of coffee in the morning may be part of that force). And, Terry, the author of the River Time philosophy that RTGS operates from, does know how to relax, especially around a campfire where his sleepy sense of humor will wake you up!

  JACKIE DOG

Jackie Dog

Jackie Dog Jackie dog was born in Eastern Oregon where she spent her first year as a cattle dog. Working on the Three River ranch. Knowing that she could do better she moved to Eugene, Oregon. Were she was in-rolled in Healing Free dog school. After graduating at the top of her class and participating in numerous guide schools she found her calling as a river dog. She has mastered riding in the gear boat with Terry and finding shade.

  ALLISON JACKSON

Allison Jackson

Allison Jackson has guided on the Main Salmon River since the age of fourteen. She has experienced the salmon at all water levels, and truly is one of the most accommodating and gracious person you will ever meet. When she is not guiding on the Main Salmon River she is a student at the University of Hawaii. Where she studies botany. She is currently in the process of writing a book on the plants of the Salmon River canyon.

  FINN NORRIS-GREY

Finn Norris-Grey Salmon River Guide

Finn grew up in Southern Oregon and started hard shell kayaking at the age of 9. He is a natural when it comes to rowing or paddling a raft. He is a very well rounded and caring person with many stories to share. He has lead expeditions from Chile to the Northwest Territories and has gone on to become a swift water rescue instructor. In off season he is a master craftsman building custom homes in Hood River Oregon.

  MICK INGRAM

Mick Ingram

Mick Ingram lives to work outdoors. In the summer Mick is a trip leader on the Rogue and Klamath rivers, personable and professionally leading trips down these beautiful wild and scenic rivers. In the winter Mick works at an Oregon ski area as a lead ski patrolman, on his trusty snowboard. Mick is a soft spoken diplomat who spins funny tales and honed jokes. Be sure to ask him about his Norwegian relatives from the old Viking days!

  KIM FAWCETT

Kim Fawcett

Kim Fawcett's parents have every reason to be proud, figuring that they always wanted a kid who is nice, sincere, honest, laid back, considerate and charming. Not only that but the kayak trips they took with her when she wasn't big enough to pick out her favorite toothpaste seemed to have left an impression. For Kim is a natural at leading river trips and other adventures. And, she is a bomber mountain biker. Her quick smile and contagious laugh are indescribably nice. When you have had a chance to experience all of this and her humble and down to earth manner, you will understand why we suggested you spend time with her. Oh, about that toothpaste. She also has really nice teeth.

"Thanks for giving my family a vacation to remember. I must admit I was skeptical about the trip at first- given all my trips into the wilderness. This trip met and exceeded all my expectations. Your professionalism, creativity and leadership were a joy to watch. I am so happy that my family had a chance to see what a real outfitter acts likes and what a pleasant experience it can be when things are done right. Thanks too for taking such good care of my family."
